Until there is a cure we need IDEAS, We are a non-profit organization working to make Canadians and Americans aware of the issues people living with intestinal disease face. We’re committed to education and awareness programs that help to remove the stigma surrounding living with an intestinal disease or an ostomy. We’re committed to making access to information about intestinal diseases easy, via this website.

Quick Guide to Crohn’s Disease Symptoms

The symptoms of Crohn’s disease are similar to the symptoms of ulcerative colitis. However, several additional symptoms, not typically experienced in ulcerative colitis, may be experienced in patients with Crohn’s disease. One problem that is very uncommon in ulcerative colitis, but may be seen in Crohn’s disease, is the occurrence of fistulas and abscesses around the anus and ulcers within the anal canal. The complications occur because of the tendency of Crohn’s disease to penetrate more deeply into the bowel lining.

Join our IDEAS Facebook page to connect with members, spread the word about an intestinal disease with your social networks, and learn more about what IDEAS is all about. We’re always open to new IDEAS that help spread the word and educate people about the intestinal disease.

Want to support IDEAS programs? We sponsor children and youth with intestinal disease to attend summer camps in Canada and the Youth Rally in the USA to help deal with the psycho-social aspects of living with intestinal diseases. In 2010 we will be granting funds to a new Inflammatory Bowel Disease research center being built at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus. You can help us by donating through Canada Helps. Why not contact us and become a member of the society for only $10.
