Rob, Clinton and Carly at the CN TowerOn March 8, 2010, Robert Hill and Clinton Shard met Carly Lindsay in Toronto prior to their presentation at the Mount Sinai Hospital for some sight seeing. The trio will depart in just two short weeks for Nepal and their journey to the true top of the world.

Toronto CN TowerFirst item on the agenda: climb the CN Tower. Can’t afford to take a day off training this close to the Everest trip, can they? Too bad there are no stairs!

LunchAfter working up an appetite on top of the world’s highest tower, Carly, Clinton and Rob had lunch with Carly’s family at Marche before finding another challenge to conquer – this one inspired by Everest trekking teammate Tony Bell.

Dessert at MacdonaldsHungry again, the gang headed to McDonald’s for a little dessert. “All of this training has really increased my daughter’s appetite,” said Karen, Carly’s mom. “There’s no fight to get her to have breakfast anymore, now she’s up early and looking for food all on her own.”

Mount Sinai, Carly, Clinton & RobBy the time early evening rolled around, the trio were ready for Clinton and Rob’s IBD Adventures talk at Mount Sinai Hospital, organized by expedition sponsor Abbott Laboratories. Approximately 100 people attended to hear about the IBD Adventures program and meet Rob and Clinton, who introduced Carly to the audience.

The Lindsay’s left for their late evening 2-hour drive back to Waterford. Carly had a speaking engagement lined up for the following morning at the Norfolk Sunrise Rotary Club.

Sunshine Rotary Awareness SpeechSeven in the morning arrived quickly, but Carly was up for her IBD Adventures awareness talk before heading off to school for the day. After her talk was finished, the audience was moved to a standing ovation for this inspiring teenager, survivor of Ulcerative Colitis and living with an ostomy – and now headed to Mount Everest to show the world that IBD doesn’t stop her!
